Nach drei Wochen Drehzeit wurde die Produktion abgebrochen. Die 15 Stunden Filmmaterial verschwanden in einem französischen Filmarchiv und wurden zu einem Mythos des französischen Kinos. Bis Serge Bromberg 2005 die Filmbüchsen erstmals öffnen durfte und "einen unvollendeten und unsichtbaren Film, ein rätselhaftes, unwahrscheinliches Meisterwerk" entdeckte.
