Released in 2003, Station Agent is a komödie and drama film directed by Tom McCarthy, running about 88 minutes. “Loneliness is much better when you have got someone to share it with.” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. Finbar liebt Züge – wesentlich mehr als Menschen. Deshalb hinterlässt ihm sein einziger Freund ein altes Bahnwärterhäuschen in Newfoundland, New Jersey. Ohne mit der Wimper zu zucken gibt er sein bisheriges Leben auf. Überrascht muß er feststellen, daß sein abgeschiedenes Dasein von zwei anderen Individuen aufgebrochen wird, die sich nichts sehnlicher wünschen, als mit ihm in Kontakt zu treten: Joe, der nicht weit vom Bahnwärterhäuschen mit Leib und Seele und kubanischer Herzlichkeit einen Imbiss betreibt, und Olivia, deren Bekanntschaft er macht, als sie ihn beinahe mit ihrem Wagen überfährt. Finbar würde beiden am liebsten komplett aus dem Weg gehen, doch Zähigkeit und Zufälle bringen die Drei immer wieder auf ein Gleis.

Who’s in it. Station Agent stars Peter Dinklage as Finbar McBride, Patricia Clarkson as Olivia Harris, Bobby Cannavale as Joe Oramas and Michelle Williams as Emily, among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 7.4/10, Station Agent has been warmly received by audiences. It went on to earn $8.7M at the box office.
