What it’s about. In Frankreich während des Zweiten Weltkriegs kreuzen sich die Wege von Olga (Yuliya Vysotskaya), Jules (Philippe Duquesne) und Helmut (Christian Clauß). Olga, eine aristokratische Immigrantin, arbeitet eigentlich als Redakteurin für eine Modezeitschrift, gehört aber nebenbei auch zur Résistance. Ihr Engagement als Widerstandkämpferin fliegt auf, als bei einer Razzia der deutschen Besatzer zwei jüdische Kinder entdeckt werden, die sie in ihrer Wohnung versteckt hält. Im Gefängnis trifft sie auf den Franzosen Jules, der mit den Nazis kollaboriert und ihr ein milderes Strafmaß im Austausch für sexuelle Gefälligkeiten anbietet. Doch eines Tages verschwindet Jules und Olga landet in einem Konzentrationslager, wo sie auf den SS-Offizier Helmut trifft, der sich vor Beginn des Krieges einst in sie verliebt hatte...

How it landed. With an audience score of 7.5/10, Paradies has been warmly received by audiences. It went on to earn $946K at the box office.
