What it’s about. Der wohlhabende Junggeselle Francisco sieht in der Kirche die schöne Gloria und verliebt sich sofort in sie. Obwohl Gloria verlobt ist, gelingt es ihm, sie für sich zu gewinnen und zu heiraten. Francisco entwickelt eine rasende Eifersucht und macht dadurch seiner Frau das Eheleben zur Hölle. Gloria findet keine Hilfe, weil ihre Mutter und der Beichtvater ihre Verzweiflung als Laune abtun. Schließlich verlässt Gloria ihren Mann. Francisco zieht sich in ein Kloster zurück und findet in der Religion Trost und Heilung. Doch als Gloria und ihr zweiter Mann, der ehemalige Verlobte, ihn besuchen, sehen sie, dass Francisco noch immer von seinen Wahnvorstellungen besessen ist.
