What it’s about. Präsident Monroe Cole ist gerade nach zwei erfolgreichen Amtszeiten aus dem Weißen Haus ausgezogen und plant seinen Ruhestand in seiner kleinen Urlaubsgemeinde Mooseport. Doch als der Bürgermeister verstirbt, haben die Stadtoberen ganz andere Pläne: Cole soll das höchste Amt der Stadt doch bitte einnehmen. Und da er frisch geschieden ist und seine Frau ihm sein Sommerhaus abluchsen könnte, steigt Cole tatsächlich in den Wahlkampf ein. Doch als Cole sich mit der Tierärztin Sally anfreundet und sich eine Beziehung anbahnt, steigt deren eifersüchtiger bester Freund Handy Harrison mit in den Ring um das oberste Amt. Er geht dabei so penetrant vor, daß Cole den Wahlkampf persönlich nimmt und seinen alten Wahlkampfstab mobilisiert. Die Bürgermeisterwahl sorgt von da an für kochende Emotionen in der ganzen Stadt ...
