Die Schwierigkeit daran: Newman lässt den schusseligen Oscar in diesem Projekt gegen seine Erzrivalen, die Architekten Decker und Strauss antreten. Der Immobilien-Tycoon ist von Oscars standhaftem Einsatz beeindruckt und so bekommt er gleich noch eine Zusatzaufgabe aufgebürdet: er soll Newmans Geliebte Amy beschatten. Newman ist im vermeintlichen Irrglauben, dass Oscar "vom anderen Ufer" sei und meint so, dass er der ideale Mann für diese Angelegenheit ist. Bald ist auch Amy davon überzeugt und sieht in Oscar ihre neue "beste Freundin".
