Es entwickelt sich eine enge Beziehungen zwischen ihm und seinem Hundeführer (Juri Nikulin). Muchtar erleichtert den Kriminalbeamten die tägliche Arbeit. Dieser russische Film steht als Vorbild für die 1994 bis 2004 gedrehte österreichische populäre Krimiserie »Kommissar Rex«, welche auch in Russland ausgestrahlt wurde.
