What it’s about. Samba lebt und arbeitet seit zehn Jahren in Frankreich. Der aus dem Senegal stammende Einwanderer hat aber keine Aufenthaltserlaubnis und muss entsprechend vorsichtig sein. Die einzige Möglichkeit nicht aufzufallen und dich trotzdem halbwegs über Wasser zu halten, liegt in kleinen Aushilfsjobs, die er immer wieder wechseln muss. Sein brasilianischer, aber eigentlich algerischer Freund Wilson ist dabei immer an seiner Seite. Mit Aussicht endlich eine feste Anstellung zu finden, wendet er sich dann doch an die Behörden, um seinen Traumjob als Koch antreten zu können. Der verantwortliche Beamte teilt seine Zuversicht aber keinesfalls, sondern steckt den lebensfrohen Spaßvogel umgehend in Abschiebehaft. Dort begegnet er Alice, die sich nach einem Burn-Out ehrenamtlich sozial engagiert. Entgegen dem Raten der erfahrenen Kollegen, lässt sie den Fall viel zu nah an sich ran und verliert schnell die Distanz zu Samba.
