What it’s about. Mutter Karen schenkt ihrem Sohn Andy aufgrund des ungeliebten Umzugs in eine neue Stadt eine „Buddi doll“ zum Geburtstag. Diese Puppe ist ein Hightech-Spielzeug der Firma Kaslan Corp, die von Henry Kaslan entwickelt wurde und Andy eigentlich viel Spaß bereiten soll. Doch weder Karen noch Andy sind sich der unheimlichen Natur Chuckys bewusst. Bei einer Sabotageaktion hat ein frustrierter Sweat-Shop-Arbeiter im Werk in Vietnam nämlich die Sicherheitsprotokolle der Puppe deaktiviert. Andy wird also schon bald erfahren, wie weit sein Spielkamerad geht, um ihm seine Wünsche zu erfüllen. Unterdessen versucht sein Nachbar Detective Mike Norris, eine Reihe mysteriöser Morde aufklären...
