What it’s about. Die libysche Hafenstadt Tobruk wurde Anfang 1941 von britischen Einheiten erobert. Danach entbrannte ein langer Stellungskrieg um die Stadt, die vom deutschen Afrikakorps belagert und massiv bombadiert wurde. Im Herbst 41 wird ein tschechoslowakisches Bataillon in die libysche Wüste abkommandiert, um die alliierten Truppen bei der Verteidigung von Tobruk zu unterstützen. In der heißen, staubigen Einsamkeit der Wüste spielt die lebensfeindliche Umgebung eine ebenso bedrohliche Rolle wie der gesichtslose Feind hinter den Hügeln. Konflikte und Aggressionen bauen sich zwischen den Männern auf, aber auch tiefe Kameradschaft, die sich bis in den Tod bewährt.
