What it’s about. Dem peniblen Hofrat Geiger fällt es wie Schuppen von den Augen: Die 18-jährige Mariandl die sich für ein Musikstudium bei ihm bewirbt, ist seine eigene Tochter. Reumütig beschließt er, seine Vaterpflichten nachzuholen und reist nach Dürnstein, wo er vor 19 Jahren Mariandls Mutter Marianne traf. Diese betreibt einen Gasthof, der jedoch mangels Gästen kurz vor der Pleite steht. Marianne sieht sich gezwungen, einen wohlhabenden Hotelier zu heiraten. Als jedoch plötzlich Geiger vor ihr steht, flammen alte Gefühle wieder auf und auch zwischen Geigers Sekretär Peter und Mariandl bahnt sich mehr an als nur gute Freundschaft.
