What it’s about. Am 15. April 1912, kurz nach Mitternacht, empfängt der Dampfer "Carpathia" einen Notruf. 60 Meilen entfernt kollidierte der Luxusliner "Titanic" mit einem Eisberg. Vier Stunden vergehen, bis die "Carpathia" 712 Überlebende an Bord nimmt. Hier wird auch Lady Astor begrüßt: "Es war Gottes Wille. Möchten Sie Kaffee?" "Nein, keinen Kaffee, keinen Gott. Gott versank mit der ,Titanic'." Neben dem üblichen, historischen Titanic-Personal (u. a. Cloris Leachman als Molly Brown) sorgen drei Paare, jeweils aus der ersten, zweiten und dritten Klasse, für die persönlichen Dramen. Auch der Augenzeuge Laurence Beesley (verkörpert von David Warner), der ein Buch über das Desaster schrieb, ist an Bord.
