Released in 2009, Cold Souls is a komödie, fantasy, drama and science-fiction film directed by Sophie Barthes, running about 101 minutes. “A soul searching comedy.” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. Paul, ein Broadway-Schauspieler, bemerkt, daß er mit seinem Leben nicht mehr zufrieden ist. Als er von einem Unternehmen hört, bei dem man seine Seele deponieren kann, nimmt er das Angebot gleich wahr, muß aber erkennen, daß er weder im Beruf noch im Familienleben glücklicher dadurch wird. Also mietet er die Seele eines russischen Dichters, was ihm im Theater viel Applaus einbringt, seine Frau aber befremdlich findet. Also will er seine eigene Seele zurück, was aber problematisch ist, weil sich diese inzwischen in Russland befindet. Gemeinsam mit Nina, einer Russin, die Seelen in die USA transportiert, will er sie zurückbekommen, und herausfinden, was inzwischen aus ihr geworden ist.

How it landed. With an audience score of 6.0/10, Cold Souls has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response. It went on to earn $1.1M at the box office.
