What it’s about. Verstohlen wird eine Elvis-Platte von Hand zu Hand gereicht und die Taste der Musik-Box gedrückt: In der “Linde” in Oranienburg wird 1956 Rock’n’ Roll getanzt und am wildesten tanzt ihn Harry Harbolla, Unteroffizier der NVA. Ein Mann wie ein Baum, ehemaliger Schmied, nun auch ehemaliger Zugführer der gerade im März gegründeten Nationalen Volksarmee. Seinen Platz hat einer der “ersten Studierten” eingenommen und Harbolla ist sauer. Nun steckte ihn auch noch eine Militärstreife in den Standortarrest, weil Harbolla in der “Linde” ohne gültige Papiere tanzte. Ausgerechnet sein Nachfolger, Leutnant Gottfried Engelhardt, erhält den Auftrag, Harbolla nun zurück in seine Kaserne zu holen. Doch Harbolla, erst einmal der Arrestzelle entkommen, hat es nicht eilig. Eine Odyssee der beiden Männer, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein können, beginnt.
