What it’s about. Larry Darell, ein junger Amerikaner, erlebt den bestialischen und grauenvollen Ersten Weltkrieg an der vordersten Front. Bei indischen Mönchen findet Larry endlich die von ihm ersehnte Ruhe und erhält mit Hilfe des Lamas Zugang zu höheren Sphären. Zurück in Paris, verliebt sich Larry in seine Jugendliebe Sophie, inzwischen eine Prostituierte. Aber Sophie wird grausam ermordet.
