What it’s about. Die aus Toronto stammende Ärztin Helen Matthews (Patricia Clarkson) trauert um ihren kürzlich verstorbenen Ehemann. Um den Tod zu überwinden und mit ihrem Leben weitermachen zu können, will sie sich in die abgeschiedene Waldhütte begeben, in der sie und ihr Mann viele ihrer schönsten Momente erlebten. Dort angekommen beschließt sie mit dem Motorboot einen Ausflug auf die See zu machen. Dabei fängt jedoch der Motor an zu streiken und sie muss von dem örtlichen Hafenmeister gerettet werden. Wieder bei ihrem Haus angekommen, bekommt sie einen Riesenschreck, als sie auf den am Boden liegenden Will (Scott Speedman) trifft. Dieser wurde angeschossen und sucht nun Zuflucht in Helens Haus. Der Fremde antwortet nur ausweichend auf ihre Fragen zur Schusswunde, sagt ihr jedoch, dass sie niemanden reinlassen darf. Dann taucht aber der Schütze auf, der seinen Job zu Ende bringen will...
