What it’s about. Kalifornien 1880: Die beiden Gauner Timothy X. Nolan und Harker Fleet sind in die schöne Katy verliebt. Schürzenjäger Nolan will unbedingt als erster bei ihr landen und stellt seinem Kompagnon eine Falle. Während eines gemeinsamen Eisenbahnüberfalls hintergeht er Fleet, indem er ihn um seinen Anteil bringt und mit Katy die Biege macht. Fleet indessen wird gefasst, vor Gericht gestellt und landet im Zuchthaus. Als er nach zwei Jahren freikommt, denkt er an nichts anderes als an die offene Rechnung, die er mit seinem ehemaligen Kumpanen zu begleichen hat. Er stellt Nolan und fordert seinen Anteil zurück. Doch Nolan ist inzwischen ein angesehener Bürger und nicht so einfach aus der Reserve zu locken. Schließlich aber erhält Fleet seine Chance: Er überredet Nolan zu einem letzten gemeinsamen Coup, einem vermeintlich lukrativen Goldraub und nimmt böse Rache...
