Released in 1988, Patty is a drama film directed by Paul Schrader, running about 108 minutes. “Erbin. Opfer. Terroristin.” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. Patricia Hearst (Natasha Richardson), genannt Patty, kommt aus gutem Hause. Am Abend des 04. Februar 1974 wird sie von der revolutionären „Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA)“ entführt. Die Organisation hat verschiedene Forderungen, unter anderen soll die Befreiung von zwei inhaftierten Mitgliedern der Gruppe und 4 Mio. Dollar für Lebensmittel im Austausch gegen Patty erpresst werden. Zeitgleich wird sie in Wandschränken eingesperrt, revolutionär indoktriniert und in die sexuellen Aktivitäten der Gruppe aufgenommen. Schließlich wird ihr die Entscheidung überlassen bei der Gruppe zu bleiben. Sie gibt sich den Namen Tania und beteiligt sich an Überfällen. Als der Anführer Cinque (Ving Rhames) getötet wird, folgen zudem Anschläge auf Polizeieigentum. Am 18. September 1975 wird Patricia und weitere SLA-Mitglieder verhaftet. Es ist an Juristen und Psychiatern, festzustellen, ob sich Patty freiwillig an den Maßnahmen der SLA beteiligt hat.

How it landed. With an audience score of 5.6/10, Patty has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response. It went on to earn $1.2M at the box office.
