Im Gegenschnitt wird Dokumentationsmaterial aus dem Vietnamkrieg gesetzt, um eine Parallele zur Ursache des Amoklaufs herzustellen. Die Bluttat eines einzelnen erweist sich als geistig-moralisches Resultat des Krieges, durch den der ehemalige Soldat zu dem wurde, was er jetzt ist.
