What it’s about. Nach dem Tod ihres Mannes kehrt Hanna aus Amerika nach Deutschland zurück. Vor Jahren waren sie wegen eines Versicherungsbetruges geflohen und hatten ihren kleinen Sohn zurück gelassen. Dieser lebt bei der wohlhabenden Familie des Dirigenten Garvenberg. Ohne sich zu erkennen zu geben, nimmt sie dort eine Stelle als Hausmädchen an. Als die Wahrheit ans Licht kommt, muss sie auf Druck von Frau Garvenberg das Haus verlassen. Als diese kurze Zeit später tot aufgefunden wird, fällt der Verdacht auf Hanna.
