What it’s about. In dem Fantasiestaat Olivia treibt der Räuberhauptmann Gasparone allerlei Unfug. Aber nicht nur mit ihm hat Präfekt Nasoni seine Sorgen, auch sein Sohn Sindulfo bereitet ihm Kopfzerbrechen. Er soll die Gräfin Ambrat heiraten, liebt aber Ita, die Nichte von Massaccio, einer etwas undurchsichtigen Existenz. Da taucht der elegante Erminio auf, dem wiederum die Gräfin schöne Augen macht. Verwirrung über Verwirrung, bis Massaccio als Gasparone entlarvt wird. Erminio entpuppt sich als Staatsbeamter, der auf Gasparone angesetzt war und nun seine schöne Gräfin bekommt. Als letzter schließt Sindulfo seine Ita in die Arme.
