What it’s about. Die Scheidung seiner Eltern hat den zwölfjährigen Sam psychisch stark mitgenommen, denn seither leidet er an fürchterlichen Albträumen und Phantasien. Die davon ausgehenden Ängste führen ihn sogar soweit, dass er sich Schnitte am ganzen Körper zufügt. Ein Aufenthalt in einer psychiatrischen Anstalt führt nicht zur erhofften Besserung, so dass er bei seinem Vater auf dem Land den Sommer verbringen und dort gesundheitliche Fortschritte machen soll. Auf den Weg in den Urlaub haben die beiden einen Unfall und sind daher gezwungen, für einige Tage auf der Ranch des mysteriösen Ben Zachary (Lance Henriksen) zu bleiben. Der hat mit den beiden Besuchern gar finstere Absichten…
