What it’s about. Charly ist nicht nur ein Einzelkind, sondern auch ein Einzelgänger und dazu ein echter Träumer. Während in der Nachbarschaft die Kinder mit ihren Eltern Weihnachten feiern, wartet er mit seiner Mutter auf den Vater, einen Flugzeugingenieur bei den Streitkräften. Der kommt erst nachts nach Hause und schenkt dem enttäuschten Sohn statt des gewünschten Fahrrades ein selbst gebasteltes Flugzeug. Wenige Wochen später verunglückt der Vater und stirbt. Charly reagiert scheinbar ungerührt und verdrängt die Realität. Erst als das Flugzeug magische Kräfte entwickelt, von selbst fliegt und immer wieder zu ihm zurückkehrt, glaubt er an ein Zeichen seines Vaters...
