Released in 1963, The Ghost is a thriller and horror film directed by Riccardo Freda, running about 97 minutes. “Horror... sharp as a razor's edge!” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. Dr. John Hichcock widmet sein medizinisches Schaffen der Entdeckung einer Kur gegen Paralyse, ein Krankheitszustand, der ihn selbst betrifft und schon die Funktionsfähigkeit seiner Beine gekostet hat. Er experimentiert mit giftigen Substanzen, die gemischt die Paralyse aufheben sollen, doch der ihm assistierende Arzt Livingstone glaubt selbst nicht daran. Viel mehr ist ihm an Hichcocks Frau Margaret gelegen, die ihn dazu bringen will, mittels der Medikamente ihren Mann umzubringen, doch als sie damit schließlich Erfolg hat, erweist sich die Erbschaft erst als schwer auffindbar und später als ganz verschwunden. Und dazu kommt, daß der Geist von Dr.Hichcock sich sowohl in der Dienerin Catherine als auch vor Margaret manifestiert und beginnt, die Mörder gegen einander auszuspielen...
