What it’s about. Viktor Schott, ein Draufgänger und Weiberheld, erhält von seinem Vater, einem Juwelier, den Auftrag, in Istanbul von einem reichen Perser eine wertvolle Smaragdkette zu erwerben und diese mit dem Schiff nach Marseille zu bringen. Ein Verbrecherpärchen beobachtet ihn, und die reizende Delia, in die Viktor sich verliebt, wird als Lockvogel auf ihn angesetzt. Seine Jugendfreundin Sibyl, die in ihn verliebt ist, warnt ihn vor dem verbrecherischen Reeder und dem Kapitän des Schiffes, die den Schmuck bei einem Maskenball an Bord an sich bringen wollen. Kurz vor dem Ziel bringt eine Explosion das Schiff zum Kentern.
