Auf dem Weg dorthin, im dunklen Wald, fällt er der holden Räubertochter Rischka (Pola Negri) in die Hände und verliebt sich gleich in sie. Doch, ach! Alexis soll die Tochter des Kommandanten heiraten… Ein kommerzieller Flop und ein Meilenstein! Ernst Lubitsch gelang eine der ersten Militärsatiren überhaupt: So verlor das Komödiengenre seine Unschuld.
