What it’s about. Die Agenten Eppler und Sandy sollen im Zweiten Weltkrieg feindliche Abwehrpläne auskundschaften. Im Alleingang schlagen sie sich vom oberen Niltal bis nach Kairo durch, wo sie von der ägyptischen Freiheitsbewegung beim britischen Geheimdienst eingeschleust werden. Mit Hilfe der ahnungslosen Engländerin Kay, die in der Abwehrzentrale des englischen Hauptquartiers arbeitet und sich in Eppler verliebt hat, gelangen sie an die geheimen Pläne der Festung Tobruk. Mit den Informationen gelingt Rommel die Eroberung der als uneinnehmbar geltenden Festung. Doch der englische Colonel Robertson ist den Spionen dicht auf der Spur.
