What it’s about. Pater George Tangerine nimmt die letzte Beichte einer zum Tode verurteilten, mehrfachen Kindermörderin ab. Sie behauptet, die Reinkarnation der Hexe Ameth zu sein. Von diesem Bekenntnis verwirrt, legt George sein Priesteramt nieder. Jahre später zieht der Geistliche Peter mit seiner Frau Annie und den beiden Kindern Martin und Carole in ein Haus aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Vom ersten Moment an passieren in dem Haus merkwürdige Dinge. Es können keine Zufälle sein. Peter stellt Nachforschungen an und findet heraus, daß der Platz, auf dem das Haus steht, zur Zeit der Inquisition der Hexenverbrennung diente. Hexen entführen Peters Sohn Martin, um ihn der Hexe Ameth zu opfern. Sollte die Opferung nicht aufgehalten werden können, erlangt Ameth, durch die Kraft der unschuldigen Seele, die unermessliche Macht Satans zurück.
