What it’s about. Sommersonntag in Rom. Taxifahrer Paolo poliert sein Auto, als Lina heranschlendert. Der grundehrliche Paolo, der auf ein gutes Geschäft hofft, fährt Lina und ihre zwei Begleiter ans Meer. Als er ihr ins Wasser folgt, schrillt die Alarmglocke. Man versucht seinen Wagen zu stehlen. Paolo macht keine Anzeige, weil er in Lina verliebt ist, spricht stattdessen mit ihrem Vater, Herr vom Scheitel bis zur Sohle, der sich als Taschendieb Signor Stroppiani herausstellt. Im Polizeipräsidium rettet Paolo die Familie und knallt seiner Kanaille endlich eine.
