What it’s about. Als der Trapper Joe Bass das Gebiet der Kiowas passiert, muss er den Indianern und ihrem Häuptling seine gesamte Jagdbeute überlassen. Als Ausgleich für die zahlreichen Felle erhält Joe den entlaufenen Sklaven Joseph Lee, ist aber alles andere als glücklich mit diesem erzwungenen Tauschgeschäft. Gemeinsam mit dem gebildeten Sklaven nimmt Joe die Verfolgung der Indianer auf, um sich seine Felle zurückzuholen. Allerdings kommen ihm der skrupellose Skalpjäger Tim Howie und seine Bande zuvor, töten die Indianer, kassieren die Felle ein und entführen obendrein noch Joseph. Joe will unter allen Umständen seine Beute zurückgewinnen und heftet sich an die Fersen der Skalpjäger…
