What it’s about. Der Cop Bannion ermittelt im Selbstmord eines Polizeikollegen. Eine Zeugin, die gesundheitliche Beweggründe in Frage stellt, wird kurz darauf ermordet. Bannion verdächtigt den Gangsterboß Lagana des Verbrechens und vermutet bald einen Bestechungsskandal bei der Polizei, der bis in die höchsten Etagen hinaufreicht. Als er sich nicht stoppen läßt, versucht man es mit einer Autobombe, die jedoch nur seine Frau tötet. Danach seinen Ämtern enthoben, wird Bannion zum Rächer, der sich nicht mehr stoppen lassen will.
