What it’s about. Ende April 1945 in Deutschland. Man könnte sagen, es geht nur noch um Stunden, bis das Grauen des Zweiten Weltkriegs aufhört. Nachdem seine Familie bei einem Luftangriff tödlich verunglückt, muss der sechsjährige Philipp Schmidt sein Schicksal selbst in die Hand nehmen und zu neuen Ufern aufbrechen. Ausgehungert und erschöpft trifft das Kind ein paar Tage später auf amerikanische Soldaten, die sich auf einer Patrouillenfahrt befinden. Von da an entwickelt sich eine besondere Vater-Sohn Beziehung zwischen den Beiden.
