What it’s about. Judas schließt sich zur Zeit der römischen Besatzung Palästinas der Gruppe um Jesus an, den er wie manch anderer für den Messias hält, der das Volk von den Römern befreien wird. Bei einem Aufenthalt in Jerusalem bringt Jesus die dortige religiöse Oberschicht wie auch die römische Verwaltung gegen sich auf. Judas verrät ihn an seine Gegner, zweifelnd wie hoffend, er werde sich, direkt mit ihnen konfrontiert, als Messias erweisen. Jesus stirbt am Kreuz, woraufhin Judas Selbstmord begeht.
