What it’s about. Wir befinden uns in der Mitte der 1970er Jahre und Elvis Aaron Presley hatte schon mal bessere Tage gesehen. Die Drogen haben sein Aussehen und seine Stimme ruiniert, und die Karriere ist auch nicht mehr das, was sie einst war. Nachdem auch noch sein Bruder stirbt, verzweifelt Elvis völlig und verliert sämtlichen Glauben. Um aber doch wieder auf die rechte Spure zu kommen, gibt er dem FBI einen Tipp, wie sie an einen schon lange gesuchten Drogendealer kommen. Der Dealer wird zwar verhaftet, schwört aber Rache an dem King. Elvis bleibt keine andere Möglichkeit, als sich ins Zeugenschutzprogramm zu begeben und der Öffentlichkeit seinen Tod vorzutäuschen.
