What it’s about. Trotz der grausamen Vorgeschichte des Hauses, bezieht Familie Benson das berüchtigte Amityvill Spukhaus, indem Jahrzehnte zuvor ein blutiges Familienmassaker stattfand. Nach anfänglichen unerklärbaren Phänomenen freundet sich die 6-jährige Tochter Melanie mit einem imaginären Freund namens John an, der ihr erzählt, dass er seit sehr langer Zeit in dem alten unheimlichen Haus leben würde. Doch niemand will dem kleinen Mädchen so recht Glauben schenken. Als der Vater, nach diversen seltsamen Vorfällen besorgt um das Wohl seine Kinder ist, lässt er überall im Haus Überwachungskameras installieren und muss aufgrund der Videoaufzeichnungen erschreckt feststellen, dass an den alten Spukgeschichten über das alte Gemäuer wesentlich mehr dran ist, als irgendjemand erahnen konnte. Bald geht es nur noch ums nackte Überleben...
