What it’s about. Schlagersänger Johnny Slade ist gerade dabei, sich mit der Erfolglosigkeit abzufinden, als ihn ein Angebot erreicht, dass er nicht ablehnen kann. Einzige Bedingung: Sein Chef, ein vom FBI bereits eingekesselter Mafioso namens Mr. Samantha, schreibt ihm öfters mal einen Liedtext vor. Zu spät erkennt Johnny, dass diese Songs verklausulierte Anweisungen für Samanthas Männer enthalten. Als sich Johnny dann auch noch in Samanthas Frau verguckt, ist guter Rat teuer. Bekannte und beliebte Darsteller aus Mafiafilmen und -fernsehserien geben sich ein Stelldichein in dieser gut gelaunten Kriminalkomödie um einen braven Künstler und seine kreativen bzw. irgendwann auch recht handfesten Differenzen mit seinem neuen Chef und Produzenten, einem steinharten Gangsterboss mit null Sinn für Humor oder gar Kunst.
