What it’s about. In einem Dorf in Nordfrankreich ist Pharao de Winter ein Polizeileutnant, der ein wenig unzulänglich zu sein scheint. Er lebt allein mit seiner Mutter, seit er vor drei Jahren seine Frau und sein Baby bei einem Unfall verloren hat. Pharao fühlt sich zu seiner Nachbarin Domino hingezogen, die ihn oft einlädt, den Abend mit ihr und ihrem Verlobten zu verbringen. Der Polizeileutnant wird gerufen, um den Mord und die Vergewaltigung eines elfjährigen Mädchens zu untersuchen, dessen Leiche auf einem Feld in der Nähe gefunden wurde. Durch seine Ermittlungen wird seine Suche nach dem Verbrecher auch zu einer Suche nach Beweisen für die Menschlichkeit zwischen den Menschen.
