What it’s about. Die querschnittsgelähmte Ester hat schon viele Pflegerinnen vergrätzt. Selima ist ihr sympathisch. Beide haben ihre Wurzeln in Algerien, allerdings ist die alte Ester jüdischen und die junge Selima muslimischen Glaubens. Als Esters Sohn für vier Wochen die Stadt verlassen muss, soll sie in ein Pflegeheim. Selimas sehr gläubige Mutter Halima, die der Tochter inzwischen zur Hand geht, bietet Ester ein Zimmer in ihrer Wohnung an. Halimas Kinder und Nachbarn sind entsetzt.
