What it’s about. Als Hauptkommissar Harry Hole in Oslo das Verschwinden eines Opfers im ersten Schnee des Winters untersucht, befürchtet er, dass ein nie gefasster Serienmörder wieder aktiv geworden sein könnte, der es auf junge Mütter abgesehen hat. Mit der Hilfe der brillanten Rekrutin Katrine Bratt muss der Polizist, der einer Eliteeinheit für die Untersuchung von Mordfällen angehört, den Täter fassen, bevor es zu den nächsten Schneefällen kommt. Als dann noch seine Freundin Rakel in das Visier des Killers gerät, entwickelt sich ein mörderisches Duell.
