What it’s about. Nach dem Tod der Eltern werden 1926 in Köln die deutschen Zwillingsschwestern Anna und Lotte grausam getrennt. Während Anna auf einem Bauernhof schuftet und nach ihr vorenthaltener Bildung hechelt, wächst Lotte wohlbehütet bei einer niederländischen Familie auf. Die jeweiligen Briefe der Schwestern werden abgefangen. Zehn Jahre später wird Anna in eine Haushaltsschule geschickt und arbeitet später für eine freundliche, ziemlich überspannte Gräfin. Lotte besucht Anna auf dem Gutshof und die beiden erleben glückliche Tage.
