What it’s about. Auf dem Weg zu einer alten Flamme, wird Marshal Johnny Reno von Joe Connors und dessen Bruder angegriffen. Den Bruder tötet er, Joe nimmt er mit in die Stadt. Dort sind die Bewohner ganz versessen darauf den Marshal und den Gefangenen wieder loszuwerden - angeblich aus Angst vor den Indianern, da die beiden Brüder den Häuptlingssohn getötet haben sollen. Reno ist allerdings fest entschlossen einen Tag in der Stadt zu verbringen und schon gar nicht bereit, den Gefangenen auszuliefern. Damit beginnt Renos Kampf gegen eine ganze Stadt und die Suche nach der Wahrheit.
