What it’s about. Ende der 1950er Jahre in Neustadt. Der 15-jährige Michael hat auf dem Heimweg von der Schule plötzlich einen Gelbsuchtsanfall und flüchtet sich in einen Häusereingang. Dort wird er von einer ihm unbekannten Frau gefunden. Die Frau kümmert sich um den Jungen und bringt ihn nach Hause. Als Michael Monate später von der Krankheit genesen ist, bringt er seiner Helferin einen Blumenstrauß vorbei. Dabei stellt er fest, dass Hanna Schmitz, so der Name der Mitdreißigerin, eine fast magische Anziehung auf ihn ausübt. Die beiden beginnen eine Affäre, die einen Sommer lang andauert.
