Um den Mafiapaten Vic Luca (Rip Torn) endlich hinter Gitter zu bringen, gewinnen die FBI-Agenten Jared Riley (Jere Burns) und Tom Mitchum (Charles Napier) den Kriminellen Frank DeSalvo (Leo Rossi) und einen weiterer Mafiahandlanger als Zeugen. Zur Beseitigung der Zeugen engagiert Luca den Killer Chris Caleek (Lance Henriksen), der jedoch einem mörderischen Irrtum erliegt: Als er DeSalvo umbringen will, dringt er in das falsche Haus ein, verletzt die Ehefrau von Jack Collins (Jan-Michael Vincent) schwer und entführt dessen Sohn, den für DeSalvos Kind hält. Da die Behörden keine große Hilfe sind, macht sich Jack, der früher beim Militär war, allein auf die Suche nach seinem entführten Sohn...
