What it’s about. Nach ihrer Trennung braucht Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton) dringend einen Neuanfang. Sie ist arbeitslos, hat keine Perspektive und will einfach nur weg. Gemeinsam mit ihren Kindern zieht sie nach North Carolina in das kleine Städtchen Sutter, um dort eine neue Stelle als Polizeichefin anzutreten. Zu ihrer Überraschung findet Chelsea vor Ort heraus, dass dort überwiegend Frauen of Color arbeiten. Das toughe Team beginnt damit, sich einem tragischen Thema anzunehmen, das viel zu lange von der Justiz ignoriert wurde: Mehr als die Hälfte aller vermissten Menschen in den USA sind People of Color, jedoch bleiben die Fälle meist unbeachtet. Noch ahnt niemand, dass Gabi selbst ein düsteres Geheimnis hat, das um keinen Preis ans Licht kommen darf.
