Er hat einen gut bezahlten Job und wohnt mit seinem Partner Raz in einem schicken Apartment in einem migrantisch geprägten Stadtteil Tel Avivs. Zum Glück fehlt dem Paar nur noch ein Kind. Um ihre Wohngegend zu verschönern, pflanzt Ben einen Baum auf der anderen Straßenseite. Doch seine gut gemeinte Tat löst eine Kette von Ereignissen aus, an deren Ende ein Geflüchteter aus Eritrea brutal von Polizisten zusammengeschlagen wird. Bens Bild von sich selbst, seiner Beziehung, ja der ganzen Gesellschaft gerät aus den Fugen. Mit bitterbösem Humor zeichnet Regisseur Idan Haguel eine satirische Parabel über das Bedürfnis nach Selbstverwirklichung, unhinterfragte Privilegien und tief sitzende Vorurteile. Für seine elegant erzählte Sozialkritik wurde „Concerned Citizen“ bereits auf der Berlinale gefeiert.
