What it’s about. Als Familie Hennings auf einer griechischen Insel die Ankunft eines Flüchtlingsboots hautnah mitbekommt, beschließt sie, nicht länger untätig zu bleiben und nimmt den syrischen Flüchtling Bassam El-Khalil bei sich auf. Bassam ist bereits seit drei Jahren in Mannheim und geht auf das gleiche Gymnasium, an dem Silke und Jürgen Hennings unterrichten und auf dem auch ihr Sohn Florian ist. Durch Bassams Anwesenheit fühlt sich Flo herausgefordert und beginnt, ihn und seine Eltern zu provozieren und die Eingewöhnung des Neuen zu erschweren.
