What it’s about. Der junge Arzt Simon Jordan lernt bei seiner Arbeit in einem Gefängnis im Kanada der 1870er Jahre die sanftmütige Grace (Sarah Gadon) kennen. Sie ist eine der berüchtigsten Frauen Kanadas, seit sie vor fast 30 Jahren als 15-jährige zusammen mit einem Gehilfen ihren wohlhabenden Arbeitgeber Thomas Kinnear und die Haushälterin Nancy Montgomery (Anna Paquin) ermordet hatte. Jordan kann die Frau, die er nun kennengelernt hat, und die grausame Bluttat nicht unter einen Hut bringen. Da es schon bei Graces Verurteilung Stimmen gab, die sie als unschuldig Verstrickte in die Bluttat eines anderen sah, beginnt der Arzt, den Fall aufzurollen.
