What it’s about. Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts macht der Zauberkünstler Dr. Vogler mit seiner Truppe in einer kleinen schwedischen Stadt halt, um die Einwohner mit seiner Show zu beeindrucken. Diese wollen die Darbietungen aber als Schwindel entlarven. Deshalb zeigt ihnen Vogler besonders ausgeklügelte Tricks und jagt den Einwohnern damit soviel Angst ein, dass sie beginnen, an wahre Magie zu glauben. Diese Illusion ist jedoch nur von kurzer Dauer.
