What it’s about. Teito, ein ehemaliger Sklave, entdeckt, dass er magische Kräfte besitzt. Mit dieser neugewonnenen Kraft möchte er die Offiziersprüfung in der Armee des Imperiums Barsburg ablegen. Durch den ersten Teil der Prüfung gelangt er mit Leichtigkeit, doch kurz danach entdeckt er in der Offiziersschule den Mörder seines Vaters und versucht diesen umzubringen. Nur knapp entgeht Teito dabei der Verhaftung. Doch eines ist er sich nicht bewusst: er wurde soeben in einen Konflikt hineingezogen, zwischen "Verloren", dem Gott des Todes und denen ihm entgegengestellten "Wesen des Lichts", auch bekannt als die "Seven Ghosts".
