What it’s about. Hippie Ned Rochlin ist einfach zu gut für diese Welt. Da verkauft er aus lauter Menschenliebe einem uniformierten Polizisten Gras -- und was ist der Dank? Er landet im Knast. Daraufhin setzt ihn seine Freundin Janet, nach gemütlichen Jahren auf ihrem Biobauernhof kaltschnäuzig vor die Tür und behält sogar seinen geliebten Hund. So viel Undank ist der Arme einfach nicht gewöhnt. Er flüchtet zu seiner Mutter nach Long Island. Beim wöchentlichen Familiendinner zeigen seine Schwestern Liz, Miranda und Natalie viel Mitgefühl, können es sich aber auch nicht verkneifen, ihn aufzuziehen. Der Spaß hat aber ein Ende, als Ned bei seinen Schwestern vor der Tür steht. So viel Arglosigkeit und bedingungslose Ehrlichkeit vertragen ihre Beziehungen und Freundschaften nicht. Der Bruder wird von Liz über Miranda an Natalie weitergereicht und stürzt ihr Leben wieder und wieder ins Chaos. Und ist natürlich, ganz klar, an allem schuld...
